The Formula Min/Max feature offers enhanced control over formula calculations. This feature allows administrators to set minimum and maximum values for formulas, ensuring scores remain within defined boundaries. Additionally, the values can be easily adjusted using the up and down arrows.
Please note: If users try to set the Maximum value lower than the Minimum value, or the Minimum value higher than the Maximum they will get the following error. The system will prompt you to correct the values to ensure they are properly configured.
How It Works
Example Scenarios
Scenario 1: Formula with Min and Max Set
Formula 1:
|
|
Question 1:
|
|
Question 2:
|
Under scoring, the setup will look like this:
Outcomes:
- If the user answers Yes to both questions, the calculated score would be 10 (
5 + 5
). However, since the Maximum is set to 8, the score is capped at 8. - If the user answers No to both questions, the calculated score would be -10 (
-5 + -5
). But with the Minimum set to -2, the score is adjusted to -2.
This ensures that the score stays within the defined range, providing greater control over the scoring system.
Scenario 2: Formula with Wider Limits
Formula 2:
|
|
Question 3:
|
Scoring setup:
Outcome:
- If the user answers No to Question 3, the calculated score would be -102 (
-2 + -100
). The system adjusts the score to -99, respecting the Minimum value.
Removing Minimum or Maximum Values
If you remove either the Minimum or Maximum value:
- The system will no longer enforce a boundary for that side of the range.
- Example:
- Without a Maximum in Formula 1, if both questions are answered Yes, the score will be 10 instead of being capped at 8.
- Without a Maximum in Formula 2, if the user answers Yes, the score will be 110 instead of being limited to 99.
Benefits of Using Formula Min/Max
- Enhanced Accuracy: Ensures scores stay within a meaningful range.
- Customizable Scenarios: Adapt to different use cases with flexible settings.
- Prevents Extremes: Avoids scores that are too high or too low, ensuring balanced outcomes.
This feature offers greater control and reliability for administrators managing scoring systems. Experiment with different Min/Max settings to suit your needs!
