Best Practices
Here are our "best practices" to ensure counts are synced successfully with Net-Chef:
- Validate the Post Date and Inventory Event before starting counts.
- Enter all counts in the Inventory app before making any changes in Net-Chef.
- Sync often, and as much as you want - there is no limit to how many times one can sync their counts.
- Limit one User per device (phone, tablet) per Inventory Event.
- Ensure Users sign out of the Inventory app when they have finished counting.
- Confirm the counts have been synced by looking for the "Imported" status on the Create/Review Inventory screen in Net-Chef before making any changes.
Troubleshooting:
Some initial troubleshooting steps:
- Check your internet connection. If you have poor connection for part of the inventory count (ex: you're in the walk-in), switch your device to "Airplane Mode" and continue entering counts. When you get somewhere with reliable internet connection, you can take your device out of Airplane Mode. This should restore connectivity, and allow the counts to be synced.
- Check the status of the inventory in Net-Chef. If the inventory is in "Awaiting Review" status you will be able to edit the counts in Net-Chef, but will be unable to sync.
Note: a user with "NC-Inventory > Reset Status" permission enabled can reset the inventory status. Once reset, counts can be imported from the Inventory app.
- Check for upgrades on your device and in the app store.
Common Errors
"Server error: Failed to save counts or storage location status to the server."
- This issue has been successfully resolved through rebooting, checking the connection, uninstalling/reinstalling the application, and ensuring the app is up to date.
"Server not reachable" or "The Inventory app has encountered an error. Please contact your Crunchtime Administrator.”
- These errors often result from incorrect URL usage or credentials/permissions. To address these issues, please consider the following:
-
- Navigate back to the Inventory app login screen to verify that the URL is correct. Ensure that there are no leading or trailing spaces in the URL.
- Check if you can log in to Net-Chef using the same credentials you're using with the Inventory app.
- Confirm that the user is part of a User Group with the necessary permissions to use the Inventory app.
"Unable to transmit product counts or storage location status to the server, retry will occur automatically"
- This error occurs when the system fails to send counts to the server. Data will be sent automatically when internet connection is restored.
- If you cannot wait for connection to be restored, you can send the counts from your mobile device to be imported into Crunchtime: How do I manually send counts in the Inventory app?
Support Requirements
If you have completed all troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, please provide Crunchtime Support with the following information.
- Include any troubleshooting steps you have already taken.
- Is this device-specific, or is it occurring on multiple devices?
- What type of device (Android or iOS) is being used?
