Do Crunchtime mobile apps work offline?
All Crunchtime mobile applications conduct frequent tests to confirm a Wifi/Cellular connection. For the most part, if the connection is lost, the app will allow users to view their currently loaded page and enter quantities into the fields within it. However, users cannot move forward with app processes or save their data (see below for Counter App abilities). If you suspect that either the WiFi system or whitelisting (internet security) is the issue, test the app on a device that is on a cellular plan and is not connected to the WiFi network. If it works, the problem is not due to the app.
The Counter App has an 'Offline Mode' designed to allow inventory counts to continue in places like Walk-In Freezers, where a WiFi connection is likely non-existent or weak. See below for details on how the Counter app behaves in Offline mode.
Like the other apps, the Counter App will enter its ' Offline Mode ' if neither WiFi nor cellular service enables a connection. While in Offline Mode, the user can enter counts for ALL storage areas claimed by that user before signal loss. Unlike other mobile apps, users can navigate and load screens for other storage areas as long as they were previously claimed.
Offline mode will not enable real-time functionality like:
- Changes or updates other users have made to their storage areas, including:
- Current information on which storage areas are claimed.
- Current counts in all storage areas make by other users.
- Allowing the app to sync.
- Allowing the user to claim a new storage area.
Once a connection is reestablished, the app will update with current information.
