Always Food Safe (AFS) is a third-party content provider specializing in compliance certification, including food safety management courses. TalentLink integrates with AFS to provide seamless access to their courses and certifications. This guide explains the setup process, learner experience, and certificate handling for customers using AFS through TalentLink.
Steps to Get Started
-
AFS Testing and Implementation:
Always test the integration in your TalentLink sandbox environment (beta) before deploying it to your production campus. This ensures a smooth implementation. -
Course Offerings Supported. TalentLink supports the following AFS courses:
- Food Protection Manager - Remote Proctor
- Food Protection Manager - In-Person Proctor
- Food Protection Manager - Remote Proctor (Ohio)
- Food Protection Manager - In-Person Proctor (Ohio)
-
Credential Requirements:
Contact your AFS account manager to obtain the Client ID and Client Secret for both beta and production environments. The beta Client ID and Secret will be used for testing in your Sandbox environment, while the production ClientID and Client Secret on your Production campus when ready to implement. -
Admin Setup in TalentLink:
An admin with “Manage Content” permissions can create a new content item by selecting "Always Food Safe" as the Type and choosing the desired course from the External Training Title dropdown. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret during setup.
Learner Experience
-
Launching an AFS Course:
- Learners access their training program in TalentLink and click on the AFS content item.
- TalentLink authenticates the learner and redirects them to the AFS platform.
-
Completing the Course:
- Once on the AFS platform, learners complete the required course and/or exams.
- If the learner passes:
- The completion status is recorded in TalentLink.
- The learner can proceed to the next content item in the program.
- If the learner fails:
- The content remains available for retry, as AFS controls the number of attempts.
Certificates
Accessing Completion Certificates:
-
- Upon course completion, the certificate is issued by AFS.
- In TalentLink, a blue rosette icon appears in the learner’s history, indicating certificate availability.
- Clicking the icon retrieves the certificate directly from the AFS server for display or download.
Please note:
- AFS courses and certificates are entirely managed on the AFS platform. TalentLink only facilitates access and records completion statuses.
- Ensure communication with your AFS account manager to receive credentials and confirm that you are using the correct endpoint for integration.
- All testing should be done in a sandbox environment with your beta Client ID and Client Secret before production implementation.
- Certificates from AFS are not stored in TalentLink. They are fetched from the AFS platform each time they are accessed.
