About Knowledge Score
A knowledge score is a numeric value given to a course or learning content item to show its relative value when compared to all of the learning items available.
Each e-learning course created by the CrunchTime! TalentLink team is given a knowledge score (before it is added to your campus) showing its relative value when compared to all of the CrunchTime! TalentLink courses available.
Methodology for Assigning Knowledge Score
The knowledge score value is based on several factors including:
-
The number of tasks covered by the course
-
The importance (to the success of the restaurant) of the tasks
-
The complexity (number of separate steps) of the tasks
-
The difficulty of mastering the tasks
Degree of Difficulty
The degree of difficulty dimension measures how difficult a task is to learn, and just as important, how difficult a task is to perform exceptionally well (i.e. difficult to master the task). Such items are critical to capture because they identify high-potential performance while also revealing a higher risk to performance once an individual is promoted, or if their work scope or responsibility has been expanded.
Difficulties can be tactile in nature (motor skill), demanding in quality of execution (error tolerance is low), complex (requires multi-task ability, coping with distraction, ambiguity, and higher cognitive load), or social in nature (requires successful influence of others).
Giving Knowledge Scores to Your Own Courses and Content
CrunchTime! has already gone through the process of scoring each course in the CrunchTime! TalentLink Library. By using the above methodology, you can create a knowledge score approach for your own e-learning courses that is consistent with CrunchTime! TalentLink's library.
You can create a knowledge score for any courses or content you create and upload.
What Learners See
A learner's cumulative knowledge score is shown in the top left corner of the My Training page, under the Leaderboard. Learners can click this number to display a summary of their completed learnings with the corresponding knowledge scores as well as a list of assigned but not yet completed items with their scores. The Leaderboard shows the top 5 users with the highest knowledge scores in the location. Learners can expand the trophy case to see the scores for all other learners in their location.
Rules for Applying Knowledge Score
The over-arching principle for applying knowledge scores is that a learner never gets 'credit' twice for the same course.
These rules are used to apply knowledge scores:
-
If a completed content item is put into review, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If a completed content item is in a learning program that is put into review, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If a completed course is removed from a learning program, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If a completed content item is deleted from the system (via content manager), the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If the title for a completed content item is updated or changed completely, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If the file attached to a completed item is changed, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If a completed item is in a learning program that you apply 'Reassign Learning Program and Delete History' to, the learner loses the knowledge score previously earned for it
-
If a completed item is in a learning program that you apply 'Unassign Learning Program and Retain History' to, the learner retains the knowledge score earned for it
-
If a completed item is in a learning program that you apply 'Unassign Learning Program and Delete History' to, the learner loses the knowledge score previously earned for it
-
If a completed item is reassigned (using the reassign button in the top portion of the dashboard assignment popup), the learner loses the knowledge score previously earned for it
-
If a completed item repeats, only one knowledge score is retained
