Pencil whipping, also known as falsification or fraudulent completion of forms, and can be a huge obstacle for accurate insights in your form submissions. In Zenput, there are 3 ways to know if a form submission might have been pencil whipped. By utilizing trigger alerts based on a few fields in your forms, you can ensure accurate data collection, and draw attention to potential issues. This article will provide step-by-step instructions on implementing these preventive measures in Zenput.
Method 1: Creating a Trigger Alert with the "Time to Complete" Field:
- Access Zenput - go to Forms - locate the needed form, and click on Edit:
- Go to Triggers - Create Trigger:
- Give the trigger a Title, and from the left menu you can see the Metadata fields. Choose "Time to Complete", and set the desired criteria and Alert below (in the below example, in case it took less than 5 minutes for someone to complete the form - a specially assigned user will get an alert).
- You can also create an automated follow-up task and assign the submitter a form, or task in case this happens. Once done - click on Publish in the upper right corner and you're good to go!
Method 2: Creating a Trigger with the "Distance from Location" Field:
- Access Zenput - go to Forms - locate the needed form, and click on Edit:
- Go to Triggers - Create Trigger:
- Give the trigger a Title, and from the left menu you can see the Metadata fields. Choose "Distance from location", and set the desired criteria and Alert below (in the below example, in case the distance from the submitter and the location is greater than a set value - a specially assigned user will get an alert).
Method 3: Utilizing the "Sensor Temperature Field":

For Zenput Temperature Monitoring customers, this field is a way to automatically pull readings from sensors directly into forms.
This option allows for quick and efficient readings automatically filled in from ALL or Limiting to specific sensors placement temperatures to be filled in for that field.
This will be helpful in preventing pencil whipping at the restaurant level, and draw attention to some details, like sensor battery levels, and such.
